He is Alive!

After the disciples left, Mary still not believing that his body had disappeared, stooped down one more time to peer into the tomb to make sure she was not imagining things. Tears streaming down her face she saw two white robed men sitting at the place where the body of Jesus had been lying.

“Why are you crying?” the angels asked her.

Grief stricken she choked back more tears. “Because they have taken away my Lord and I don’t know where they have put him.”

Distressed and not knowing what else to do she glanced around and saw a man, perhaps the gardener, and wondered if he had seen anyone steal the body.

Before she could speak he asked, “Why are you crying and who are you looking for?”

Turning toward him she said, “I am looking for my Teacher, have you taken him away?

With a rush of new tears forming in hear grief stricken eyes she pleaded, “Please! Will you tell me where you put him and I will go and get him. He was my Teacher and I want to take care of his body. He rescued me and freed me from my sins.”

Looking directly into her eyes the man spoke a single word, “Mary!” Jesus said.

Hearing her name by that voice she knew so well, she stared at him in disbelief.

She ran to him and exclaimed, “Teacher!”

“Let go. Don’t hold on to me, for I have not yet returned to the Father. Go instead to my brothers and tell them I am returning to my Father and your Father, to my God and your God.”

Amazed and filled with great joy that her Teacher was alive, she ran and told the others the news.

“I have seen the Lord! ┬áHe is Alive!”
